Summer rolls are one of the most popular street foods in Vietnam, since they're so quick and easy to eat if you're on-the-go. Although they originated in the south, they are now much-loved in every part of Vietnam. Soft rice paper is filled with prawns or pork, and thin rice noodles to give it some body and texture.

The local specialty in Hue is Banh Beo, which is essentially a steamed rice cake made from rice flour and tapioca, and filled with crispy prawns and delicious dipping sauce on the side. There are many different variations of this dish, so we recommend ordering a few of them so you can get a taste of everything on the menu!

Vem xao sa ot

These are freshwater mussels which are cooked with a variety of Hoi An's local herbs. Although this is known as a seasonal treat, it's a favourite amongst locals as a light snack during the mid-afternoon.

Spicier than traditional pho, this dish is made with ingredients which include vermicelli rice noodles, beef, herbs and green vegetables. Keep it nice and simple and you're bound to savour all the flavours in bun bo hue.
