A Taste of Japan

A Taste of Japan
Japan is a country with a diverse food culture encompassing a variety of dishes from different regions of the country as well as international influences. Devoted to freshness and nutrition in their food, the Japanese like to buy their ingredients on the day they cook. We have picked the top three most common and fundamental dishes served in Japanese restaurants.

Japanese Tempura
Lightly-battered, deep fried goodness that melts softly in your mouth, tempura is one of the most popular Japanese dishes and is used on a variety of vegetables and seafood.  It is tasty, colourful and takes only thirty seconds to deep fry. The delicate flavours of the batter are complimented perfectly by sauces and condiments such as tentsuyu and green tea salts.

Japanese Miso Soup
It is almost impossible to have a Japanese meal without encountering a bowl of miso soup. This hearty soup pairs a Japanese soup stock called dashi in which miso, a fermented bean paste is dissolved, with morsels of tofu, chopped scallion and seaweed. Tasty, warming, highly nutritious and beneficial to weight loss, Miso is a Japanese staple.

Japanese Curry
Thick, mild and slightly sweet, Japanese curry is usually cooked with carrot, onion, potatoes and a meat of choice. It is easily one of the most popular and regularly eaten dishes in Japan. Most Japanese people like to make their meals from scratch, however when it comes to curry, a simple and convenient curry cube or powder mix will do the trick.
