How to travel the Phi Phi Islands

The Phi Phi Islands are a group of picturesque islands in Thailand, located between the large island of Phuket and the west coast of the mainland. The islands are reachable by speedboats or Long-tail boats from the main island. Originally, the islands were populated by Muslim fisherman during the late 1940s, only to become a coconut plantation - yum! Are you looking for an escape to this tropical island? We've compiled a list of things to do to really make the most of this luxurious destination.

Ko Phi Phi Le

Boasting the title of second largest of the islands, Ko Phi Phi Le is a must-do when exploring this part of the world. The open beach cove allows you to sit back and relax while tourists fish, swim, eat and wind down. You can visit this island via many of the advertised boat trips on the main land.

Bamboo Island (Ko Phi Phi Don)

A lot less populated and crowded than Ko Phi Phi Le, is the small island called Bamboo Island. Wondering where the name came from? Well, there is in fact a Bamboo forest that inhabits the middle of the island. If you're not exploring the Bamboo Forest, you can go snorkelling, animal watching and just generally enjoy the sun! Bamboo Island is famous for its crisp white sand and beautifully clear blue ocean waters. This island is also accessible via boats from the main island.

Viking Cave

Viking Cave is one of the most notable sites of the islands. It is located on the north-eastern side of the island, and takes roughly 20 minutes to access from the main island. The cave owes its name to paintings that we found on the walls of the cave. These paintings represent various types of boats, and are believed to be quite recent, possibly realised by sailors that were taking shelter in the cave during a storm.
